Air Freight FAQ’s
How Are Air Freight Rates Calculated?
Air freight rates are determined based on the chargeable weight, which is either the gross weight (including the weight of the cargo, packaging, and pallets) or the volumetric weight — whichever is higher. Volumetric weight is calculated using a formula that takes the cargo's dimensions (length x width x height) and divides them by a dimensional weight factor. This ensures fair pricing, as larger items that weigh less occupy more space than smaller, heavier items. Additional costs, such as duties and taxes, may apply depending on the destination country.
Once your packed goods are handed over to us, they are sent to the airport for processing, where they’re cleared through customs and then loaded onto the plane for swift delivery.
Restrictions for Air Freight Shipments
Air freight has specific restrictions for safety reasons. Items such as explosives, gases, flammable or radioactive materials, toxic and infectious substances, chemicals with safety warnings, strong magnets, and any item posing a risk to public health are prohibited from being shipped by air.
How long does it take for air cargo shipments to reach their destination?
The delivery time for air cargo shipments depends on the destination, customs clearance, and the shipping service selected (express or standard). Typically, air freight offers one of the fastest shipping options available, with international shipments reaching their destination in 1-10 days. Our team ensures that your cargo is processed quickly to meet tight deadlines.
What types of goods are suitable for air cargo shipping?
Air cargo is ideal for time-sensitive or high-value items that require fast delivery. Common goods shipped via air cargo include electronics, medical supplies, perishable foods, fashion items, and urgent documents. However, certain items, such as hazardous materials (e.g., explosives, flammable goods, and radioactive substances), are restricted from air shipping due to safety and regulatory concerns.
